Why Technology Education for Kids?

In the early 2000s, one scientist commented that making a computer algorithm understand and interpret human voice is impossible in the next 100 years. But 20 years later, this technology lives in our smartphones and homes via voice assistants like Google Home, Alexa, and Siri.
Innovations today have one thing in common– cutting edge technology. Hence, technology education is the study of technology, in which students "learn about the processes and knowledge related to technology".
According to Wikipedia, as a field of study, it covers the human's ability to shape and change the physical world to meet needs, by manipulating materials and tools with techniques. It addresses the disconnect between wide usage and the lack of knowledge about technical components of technologies used and how to fix them.
In addition, coding is the language that technology understands and hence forms an integral part of technology education. Apple’s revered founder, the late Steve Jobs said that everyone should learn how to code or program because it teaches you how to think.


Encourages problem solving

Technology education is often posited as a very adult phenomenon but, in reality, it permeates every phase of our lives, especially duing childhood. TechEd from a young age develops and hones skills, not least because it places a problem before children and encourages them to find a solution.


Facilitates out-of-the-box thinking

An innovator whose most successful in their solutioning is often the one that knows what rules exists and how they can masterfully bend them. Instead of these frameworks functioning as watertight boxes, they’re guidelines through which an innovative solution is realised.

Entrepreneurship involves thinking in a way that is geared towards problem-solving and creating solutions for others rather than yourself.

The skills a tinkerer develops over time will translate into creative thinking and broader skillsets that apply outside of the technology sphere.

Artificial intelligence, robotics and machine learning aren’t restricted to technology realm– they play pivotal roles in everyday lives. Integrating TechEd Curriculum

Modo brings to you an innovative blended curriculum for grades 1 to 8 that delivers year-long integrated program with 20 classes per academic year. Modo’s special focus on mentoring select gifted students will enable the school administration to confidently participate in competitions, and showcase talent to parents and patrons. Students enrolled will also receive online course access for further reference and practices. In addition, Modo’s uniquely designed robotics kits carry school name and/or logo that adds pride and sense of ownership.


Setting up the Innovation Lab

Modo’s parternship with leading schools comes packaged with State-of- the-art ‘Innovation Lab’ that fosters creativity and innovation among enrolled students. Day to day sessions are conducted in the lab and are delivered by technically qualified tutors who are equally passionate. The lab is fully equipped with hands-on tinkering tools suitable for students from grades 1 to 8 The lab offers students cutting-edge simulator programs, AV equipment, digital content for immersive experience and transforms student engagement.

Workshops & Events

In addition to regular sessions, Modo will organise workshops and hands- on sessions on various topics such as robotics and AI, delivered by experts from industry. These workshops – virtual or in-person - draw relevance to real-life applications, industrial usage, career context and opportunities. Furthermore, such events and challenges aim to nurture talent and competitiveness among students.

Supporting NEP2020

The Govt of India/MHRD recent announcement of National Education Policy 2020 focuses on interactive and fun classrooms, where questions are encouraged with creative, collaborative, and explorative activities for deeper & experiential learning.
